BTD Battles Overview

Bloons Tower Defense (also known as Bloons TD or BTD) is a series of tower defense games under the Bloons series created and produced by Ninja Kiwi. The game was initially developed as a browser game, built upon the (now unusable) Adobe Flash platform and released in mid 2007. Later games in the series expanded to support various mobile platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows Phone, PlayStation Portable, Nintendo DSi, Windows, Linux and MacOS. Games in the Bloons series older than Bloons TD 6 are available through the Ninja Kiwi Archive on Steam.

Bloons

In the game, players attempt to prevent Bloons (the in-game name for balloons) from reaching the end of a set course by placing towers or road items along it that can pop the bloons in a variety of ways, typically by utilizing the power of monkeys. A handful of towers can stall the bloons and give the other towers more time to pop them by freezing and gluing the bloons. Money is gained by popping bloons, completing rounds, and collecting bananas from existing banana farms which can be spent on new towers, upgrades for existing ones, or temporary items such as exploding pineapples and road spikes.

Unlike previous titles, towers are unlocked by progressing through Story Mode rather than leveling up through player ranks. Most levels will reward the player Monkey Money or other prizes upon completion, and certain levels will reward the player with new towers or even heroes. Tracks are also unlocked in this manner; however, almost every level has a unique track and thus a wide variety of tracks will be available for the player to play in Selection Mode; every level completed in Story Mode will almost certainly unlock a new track in Selection Mode. Gaining XP for towers, however, remains the same; the more a tower is used, the more XP it gains, and tower XP can be spent to unlock upgrades.

Super Monkey

The Super Monkey is a tower that has appeared in all of the Bloons TD games, Bloons 2, Bloons Super Monkey, and Bloons Super Monkey 2. It shoots projectiles very quickly, making it powerful but also quite an expensive tower to invest in. It is somewhat related to the Dart Monkey, as both throw darts, only at hypersonic speed. The cost of the Super Monkey is $4000 in the original, and the cost varies depending on the difficulty level in all subsequent games. Despite being the most powerful tower, the Super Monkey cannot pop Lead Bloons or detect Camo Bloons without any aid from upgrades, towers, and/or Speciality Buildings. However, in Bloons TD 6, the new Ultravision upgrade allows the Super Monkey to hit Camo Bloons

Super Monkey

Outside of club arenas such as Mega Boosts and Bananza Mode, The Super Monkey is rarely used because it is too expensive and ineffective as an early-game tower (a 0/0 Super Monkey can't handle grouped Blue Bloons), due to poor lower-level upgrades and a lack of camo detection. Over the years, it has been given various buffs, the most significant of which is Version 4.6, decreasing the cost of the base tower and both of its range upgrades.
