Problem

College students exist in the densest knowledge ecosystems in the world. What doesn't exist, is a culture or medium to access these systems. This barrier hinders their ability to grow and learn from the unique expertise of others, and create valuable post-grad networks.

My Solution

I want to build a website that acts as an interface for a pre-existing database of student qualities. Whether these are things like major or professional interview experience, the intention is to design a way for students to search through the expertise their peers possess and facilitate positive interactions with one another.

Analysis

When starting college, students naturally form small subgroups of similarly inclined individuals (connecting over hobbies, hometowns, or studies). The longer a student belongs to a group, the further they deviate from peers in other groups. As students grow older and expand their academic and professional horizons, it becomes difficult to interact with and learn from individuals with different concentrations of knowledge.

Impact and Vision

In the short term, students will benefit from having access to a database of unique knowledge and skills, whether this is to learn, or inform career decisions. In the long term, students will develop a lifelong appetite for learning and connecting with others, as well as creating meaningful, lifelong connections with their current peers (future industry leaders).
